Mardi Himal is the name of given to the features of the long rising ridge and its summit that for the south westerly lower slope of Mount Machhapuchhre, The famous triangular skyline that is seen from the Fewa Lake at Pokhara. As we shall soon see from a closer and more westerly vantage point, the mountain hold win peak- thus its name Machhapuchhre which the MACHHA means Fish & PHUCHRRE means Tail. It is most southerly high point of the Annapurna massif, the awesomely majestic grouping of the Mountains in the central Himalaya that includes five of the twelve highest Mountains in the world- all at close of very close quarter to our route.
This trek offers opportunities to escape Nepalese tourist trails, to venture into the deep forest and roam the high alpine pastures to the base of the sacred, fluted peak of Machhapuchhre; the emphasis of this trek is one of the forest and wilderness zones combined with a sense of exploration. Descending the first through the forest, different routes take us steeply down to the upper Mardi Khola, the forest that has been the ice and snow of Mardi Himal. Although remote & still away from all the much used trekking routes, our expedition now takes on the moods of warm villages and the friendly Villages, we will walk down through the lovely fields, past the simple farms & over the “interesting” bridges, there is no doubt this indeed the idyllic Nepali country side.
